Multivolt battery uses higher capacity Lithium Ion cells for longer runtime and increased power output. Most common power tool batteries use 18650 cells, but the MultiVolt battery uses 21700 cells which allow for the greater power and approximately 46% more capacity. The battery delivers 4.0Ah of runtime at 36V in MultiVolt tools. It can also power Hitachi / Metabo HPT 18V cordless tools for even more flexibility. When the MultiVolt battery is used with the 18V tools, it generates an impressive 8.0Ah of run time.

On the other hand, multivolt rapid charger charges 4Ah MultiVolt Battery in approximately 52 minutes which means less down time and more job done.
